Born Erin Emily Wheeler, Erinem gets her artist name from a combination of her first and middle name. First going by the artist name Emcee Erin Emily, the name evolved to be Emcee ErinEm, and finally just Erinem. 

Erinem is often asked if her artist name has any relationship to the hip hop legend Eminem. While she welcomes the comparison, her artist name was not directly meant to reference Eminem. 

The similarity in their names is by coincidence, not by design. However, Eminem is the artist she is most often compared to in her work today; this is something Erinem fully appreciates, and embraces.

Erinem is a member of American MENSA; paradoxically, after failing out of 9th grade she also went on to graduate from The New School, receiving an MFA. Since then, Erinem remains a devoted student of the game. Her attention cannot be divided. 

Erinem is determined to make her mark as a skilled rapper, avid lyricist & seasoned producer. She & her co-producer Guy Bartov produce every song together, spending a great deal of time perfecting each mix. But Erinem always works solo when it comes to writing the lyrics, all of which she authors alone. She is a known perfectionist, & obsesses over every detail. 

Erinem’s latest album, Y.B.A.L.A. received rave reviews by The Source, ThisIs50, HipHopWeekly & dozens of other publications. The 5-song EP was met w/ instantaneous critical acclaim. She also had the privilege of working w/ D12’s Bizarre, who has a feature verse on the album. 

Erinem stands by lyricism & hard work. When asked what drives her, it isn’t money or fame. Erinem says, "I just want to work with my peers."
